Welcome to the WEB site of the Wood River Amateur Radio Club. Feel free to come here often for club news and any updates on the repeaters.

The club operates two 2M repeaters (N7ACB/R-147.18 +600 PL100 ) on top of Baldy Mt at 9200 ft known locally as the Baldy Machine. It is soon to be linked to our other repeater AE6DX/R (R147.14 7+600 PL100)  Known as the Sawtooth Machine, This repeater serves the Sawtooth Valley to the west of Stanley to Phantom Hill (MP140) on the south side of the pass. These are both open repeaters freely available for use by all visiting hams.  For more details click on the repeater tab above.   Click the repeater tab for more.

We are a small club and have only one meeting per year.  We are interested in having new members so click the contact tab above for more information on how to contact the club.   We are active in ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Services) and practice for disasters by providing free communications services for selected area events. These are fun and help perfect emergency set up and operational skills.

After Hurricane Katrina and the events of 9/11 when Ham radio was virtually the only communications that worked, homeland security decided that Ham radio, which was already in place, saved lives and should be used more extensively.  They have donated equipment and are helping with some large events in the area that may also be security threats like the upcoming Special Olympics.

So like the Marine Corps, we need a few more good men and women.  The license requirements have been loosened and you no longer need to know the Morse Code for any class of license.  If saving lives and having fun at the same time gives you kicks come and join the fun.  Our annual meeting is always a good time.
